Where our questions come from
Every question is original. We write each one from a specific section of your state's official driver handbook, and we don't copy questions or explanations from other sites.
We use AI tools to help draft questions. Every draft is built from the handbook section it cites.
Each question links to that section, so you can read the rule yourself and check our answer.
How we explain answers
After you answer, you see the correct answer, the reason it is right, and why each of the other options is wrong. The explanation stays close to what the handbook says.
How we check questions
A test can't be published until it passes automated checks. They make sure that:
- every question cites a source
- every wrong option has its own explanation
- the correct answer is one of the options
- the correct answer isn't given away by being much longer than the others
These checks catch structural mistakes. They can't tell whether a rule matches the handbook, which is why every question shows its source.
How we check facts about the exam
Facts about the real test, such as the minimum age and the passing score, come from official state sources. Each state page shows when its facts were last checked and links to those sources.
If we can't confirm a fact from an official source, we leave it out. For example, we show a state's number of exam questions only when an official page states it.
What a practice test is
Our tests are practice. They aren't the real exam, the wording of the real questions will differ, and passing a practice test doesn't guarantee you'll pass at the DMV.
QuizDMV is an independent site. We aren't affiliated with any state DMV or government agency.
What we leave out
We don't publish user counts, pass rates, or reviews unless we can back them up.
