What QuizDMV is
QuizDMV is a free site for practicing the written driving test. You pick your state, answer questions one at a time, and see why each answer is right or wrong. There are no accounts, and nothing to pay.
We created it so that anyone working toward a permit or a driver's license has a free practice site of good quality.
Who writes the tests
QuizDMV is written and maintained by the QuizDMV Editorial Team. The team writes the practice questions and the state pages, and checks the facts about each exam against official sources.
Between them, the people on the team have more than 50 years of driving experience, and they keep up with the changes state DMVs make.
Pages are signed by the team, not by individual authors.
What you'll find here
The site covers 51 states and districts, with 306 permit and driver's license practice tests and 7,650 questions in total.
Each state also has 4 quick tests of 12 questions, made from the questions in the full tests.
Each state page also lists facts about the real exam, such as the minimum age and the passing score. Every fact links to the official page it came from and shows the date we checked it.
How the questions are written
We write each question from a specific section of the state's official driver handbook, and the question links back to that section.
AI tools help us draft questions, and automated checks catch structural mistakes. They can't confirm that a rule matches the handbook, so each question shows its source. The editorial policy explains this in full and says where the human review stands.
What we are not
QuizDMV is an independent site. We aren't a state DMV, and no government agency endorses us. Our tests are practice, not the real exam. For current rules, fees, and appointments, check your state's own website.
